Cruisin'

A funny story from our recent cruise vacation, about which I will be posting shortly:

Sharon and I, incurable nerds as we are, went to many of the trivia rounds held on the cruise, and for the first half of the week, we fared decently on our own. One evening we saw two older ladies at a table by themselves and decided on a whim to join up with them. They turned out to be a delightful pair, and to our surprise (we scored a middling 11 out of 20 possible points that round) we won the round. We were reveling in our victory (and the cheapo logo-emblazened chip-clips loot) when a lady from another team came by and basically hovered over us, asking what were Sharon's and my professions (weird, I thought, but I told her "Physician and engineer.") before she left muttering something about being a PhD.

After Hovering Lady left, one of our new teammates leaned forward and said, "That lady was part of a team that has been bitterly complaining to the Cruise staff that they haven't won a single round of trivia [apparently there had been a group that had been dominating every previous round]." She went on to inform us that she'd overheard Hovering Lady complaining to the Triviamaster, "Our team has three PhD's, and we've never won a single round! Something is fishy about all of this!!"

Oh, my.

Suck it, nerds!

Ah, internet memes. Usually they start out as quirky, funny, even brilliant...  but usually they just end up being really strange and/or really, really annoying.

The "Sh!t [Insert Person(s) or Stereotype Here] Says" is no exception to the rule. The first one you saw may have been interesting or funny or both. The hundredth one has been neither.

But (I know, contradicting myself) here is the hundred-and-first: The Only One That Matters (despite the conspicuous omission of the use of "Aw, nerds!").
